Precautions for using copper and copper alloy welding rods

Precautions for using copper and copper alloy welding rods
1. Before welding, the welding rod must be baked at around 200 ℃ for 1 hour. Impurities such as moisture, oil, and oxides on the surface of the welded part must be removed.
Due to the thermal conductivity of copper, the preheating temperature of the welded base material is generally high, usually above 500 ℃. The magnitude of welding current should be adapted to the preheating temperature of the base metal. When welding, it is advisable to use vertical short arc, fast, and reciprocating linear motion to improve the formation of the weld seam.
3. For longer welds, the gradual retreat welding method should be used, and the welding speed should be as fast as possible. During multi-layer welding, it is necessary to thoroughly remove the slag between the layers. After welding, use a flat headed hammer to strike the weld seam to eliminate stress and improve the quality of the weld seam.
