Product Description
RBCuZn-A is a copper-zinc brazing filler metal (Naval Bronze) complying with AWS A5.8 standard (equivalent to ISO24373 Cu4700, GB/T9460 SCu4700). Typical composition: 57.0-61.0% Cu, 0.25-1.00% Sn, with balance Zn. Features good fluidity, moderate strength, and corrosion resistance. Suitable for gas-flame brazing, oxy-fuel welding, and furnace/induction brazing of copper, copper alloys, steel, nickel, and cast iron. A borax-boric acid flux is generally required for optimal brazing results.
Features
▪ Good Fluidity: Melting range 875-890°C (1610-1650°F) with excellent flow characteristics for capillary action.
▪ Moderate Strength: Tensile strength approx. 345-400 MPa (50-58 ksi), suitable for general brazing applications.
▪ Corrosion Resistance: Small tin addition improves corrosion resistance compared to plain brass alloys.
▪ Good Color Match: Golden-yellow color matches brass and bronze base materials for aesthetic joints.
▪ Wide Compatibility: Suitable for copper, brass, bronze, steel, nickel, nickel alloys, and cast iron.
▪ Multiple Forms: Available as bare rod, flux-coated rod, and wire in various diameters.
Applications
▪ Plumbing and HVAC: Copper pipe joints, brass fittings, heat exchangers, radiators.
▪ Marine Applications: Brass hardware, marine fittings, seawater system components.
▪ Industrial Equipment: Valve bodies, pump parts, bearing bushings, gear teeth repairs.
▪ General Fabrication: Steel-to-copper joints, copper-to-brass connections, dissimilar metal brazing.
▪ Repair and Maintenance: Overlay brazing on worn surfaces, casting repairs, and bronze/copper component restoration.

FAQS
Difference between RBCuZn-A and RBCuZn-C?
RBCuZn-A is simpler brass (Cu 57-61%, Sn 0.25-1.0%), tensile 345-400 MPa. RBCuZn-C contains Fe, Si, Mn additions, higher strength (415 MPa), lower fumes (Low Fuming Bronze). Choose RBCuZn-A for general brazing; RBCuZn-C for high-strength applications with reduced fumes.
Flux requirements for RBCuZn-A brazing?
Borax-boric acid flux required. Use copper brazing flux (e.g., FB102, FB105) for optimal wetting and oxide removal. Pre-coat rod or apply flux to joint surface before heating.
Brazing temperature range?
875-890°C (1610-1650°F). Use oxidizing flame for oxy-acetylene brazing to reduce zinc evaporation and prevent porosity. Heat quickly to minimize high-temperature residence time.
