Product Description
ECoCr-C is a cobalt-base hardfacing electrode classified under AWS A5.13/EWC standards, known commercially as Stellite® equivalent. The electrode deposits weld metal containing approximately 30% chromium, 8-12% tungsten, and 1.0-2.0% carbon, with the balance cobalt (approximately 55-60%). This composition creates a tungsten-strengthened matrix with exceptional red hardness and high-temperature strength. Compatible with AC or DC polarity, it produces as-welded hardness of 40-48 HRC (approximately 380-450 HB), capable of maintaining hardness at elevated temperatures up to 850°C (1562°F). The higher tungsten content provides superior hot hardness and resistance to thermal softening compared to ECoCr-A and ECoCr-B.
Features
▪ Superior Red Hardness: The 8-12% tungsten content provides exceptional resistance to thermal softening, maintaining hardness at temperatures up to 850°C, higher than both ECoCr-A and ECoCr-B.
▪ Excellent High-Temperature Strength: Maintains mechanical properties and dimensional stability at elevated temperatures, making it ideal for hot working applications with extended thermal exposure.
▪ Balanced Carbide Formation: The moderate carbon content (1.0-2.0%) with 30% chromium provides good carbide strengthening for wear resistance while maintaining sufficient ductility for thermal shock resistance.
▪ Enhanced Oxidation Resistance: The cobalt-chromium-tungsten alloy composition provides excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling at high temperatures, protecting the base metal from degradation.
▪ Versatile Weldability: Suitable for both AC and DC power sources, with DC+ (DCEP) recommended for optimal arc stability and minimal spatter during deposition.
Applications
▪ Designed for applications requiring maximum high-temperature performance and red hardness, ECoCr-C is commonly applied in:
▪ Hot Working Tools: Hot working dies, forging dies, and extrusion tools requiring exceptional red hardness and resistance to thermal softening during prolonged high-temperature exposure.
▪ Turbine Components: Turbine blades, nozzle rings, and high-temperature turbine components requiring excellent high-temperature strength and oxidation resistance.
▪ Industrial Furnace Parts: Furnace rolls, conveyor belts, and furnace components operating at sustained high temperatures requiring resistance to thermal softening.
▪ Metal Processing: Hot strip mill rolls, hot working guides, and metal processing equipment requiring red hardness during high-temperature operations.
▪ Aerospace Engine Parts: Hot sections of turbine engines, exhaust components, and aerospace applications requiring excellent high-temperature properties and oxidation resistance.

FAQS
What is the main difference between ECoCr-C and ECoCr-A/B?
ECoCr-C contains 8-12% tungsten vs 3-5% in ECoCr-A/B, providing superior red hardness and higher temperature resistance up to 850°C, with hardness maintained at elevated temperatures.
When should ECoCr-C be chosen over ECoCr-A or ECoCr-B?
Use ECoCr-C for applications with prolonged high-temperature exposure requiring maximum red hardness and resistance to thermal softening, such as hot working tools and turbine components.
What is the maximum service temperature for ECoCr-C?
ECoCr-C maintains hardness up to 850°C (1562°F), higher than ECoCr-A (800°C) and ECoCr-B (750°C) due to tungsten alloying.
