Product Description

EFeCr-A1 is a martensitic stainless steel welding electrode classified under AWS A5.13 specification, designed for welding and surfacing applications requiring moderate hardness, corrosion resistance, and wear resistance. The electrode deposits weld metal containing approximately 12-14% chromium and 0.3-0.6% carbon, forming a martensitic structure that can be heat treated to achieve various hardness levels. Compatible with AC or DC+ (DCEP) polarity, it produces weld metal with typical as-welded hardness of 350-400 HB, capable of reaching 450-500 HB after heat treatment. The balanced chromium and carbon content provides good corrosion resistance in mild atmospheric environments while maintaining excellent weldability for overlay and hardfacing applications.

Features

▪ Martensitic Structure: Deposits martensitic weld metal with 12-14% chromium content, providing a good balance of hardness, strength, and moderate corrosion resistance for various surfacing applications.
▪ Heat Treatable Capability: The as-welded hardness of 350-400 HB can be increased to 450-500 HB through post-weld heat treatment, allowing customization of mechanical properties based on application requirements.
▪ Good Corrosion Resistance: The 12-14% chromium content provides moderate corrosion resistance in atmospheric and mildly corrosive environments, superior to carbon steel hardfacing alloys.
▪ Excellent Weldability: Designed for both overlay welding and joining applications with good arc stability, smooth metal transfer, and minimal spatter for efficient operation.
▪ Versatile Application Range: Suitable for both new fabrication and repair welding, providing excellent bonding to carbon steel, low-alloy steel, and stainless steel substrates with proper joint preparation.

Applications

▪ Widely used for hardfacing and surfacing applications requiring moderate hardness with corrosion resistance, EFeCr-A1 is commonly applied in:
▪ Rolling Mills: Work rolls, backup rolls, and mill components requiring moderate hardness with resistance to thermal cycling and mild corrosion.
▪ Steel Processing Equipment: Shear blades, cutting tools, and steel processing machinery components subject to wear requiring a balance of hardness and corrosion resistance.
▪ Mining Components: Crusher parts, grinding media, and mining equipment components operating in mildly corrosive environments with moderate wear conditions.
▪ General Machinery: Gears, shafts, and mechanical components requiring moderate hardness and improved corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel hardfacing.
▪ Power Generation: Turbine components, pump shafts, and power generation equipment requiring martensitic stainless properties with moderate hardness and corrosion resistance.
