Product Description

ERNiCrFe-6 is a premium nickel-chromium-iron solid welding wire compliant with AWS A5.14/A5.14M standards, designed for gas-tungsten-arc and gas-metal-arc welding of austenitic and ferritic steels and nickel-based alloys. Featuring a balanced composition with nickel content ≥67.0wt.%, chromium 14.0-17.0wt.%, titanium 2.5-3.5wt.%, manganese 2.0-2.7wt.%, and controlled iron ≤8.0wt.%, it excels in a wide temperature range from cryogenic temperatures to over 1800°F (980°C). Compatible with GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and SAW processes, it provides exceptional high strength and corrosion resistance, particularly suited for joining INCONEL and INCOLOY alloys to stainless steels, carbon steels, and MONEL alloys, as well as welding nickel steels and dissimilar metal joints.

Features

▪ Wide Temperature Performance Range: Maintains high strength and excellent corrosion resistance from cryogenic temperatures to over 1800°F (980°C), making it versatile for extreme temperature applications. The weld metal can be age hardened for greater strength at temperatures up to approximately 1300°F (700°C), with tensile strength of 80,000 psi (552 MPa) and elongation of 30% providing excellent ductility and mechanical properties.
▪ Excellent Age-Hardening Capability: When service temperatures exceed 1300°F (700°C), the weld metal undergoes precipitation hardening that significantly increases strength without compromising corrosion resistance. This age-hardening characteristic, combined with the titanium stabilization (2.5-3.5wt.%), ensures enhanced high-temperature performance and long-term structural integrity in demanding thermal environments.
▪ Superior Dissimilar Metal Welding: Designed for joining dissimilar materials including INCONEL alloys to stainless steels, carbon steels, and MONEL alloys; joining MONEL alloys and Nickel 200 to stainless steels; and joining stainless steels to carbon steels. The balanced nickel-chromium-iron composition with manganese and titanium ensures minimal dilution effects and excellent compatibility across a broad spectrum of base materials.
▪ Excellent Weldability and Mechanical Properties: Provides smooth arc stability, minimal spatter, and uniform bead formation across various welding positions. The controlled chemical composition with low carbon (≤0.08wt.%), silicon (≤0.35wt.%), sulfur (≤0.015wt.%), and phosphorus (≤0.030wt.%) minimizes hot cracking tendencies and ensures high-quality weld deposits. The wire is available in straight lengths (915mm/36" or 1000mm/39") and coil forms, with diameters ranging from 0.8mm to 3.2mm for versatile application requirements.

Applications

▪ Ideal for a wide range of high-temperature and dissimilar metal welding applications, ERNiCrFe-6 is extensively used in:
▪ Power Generation & Petrochemical: Coal-fired power plant boiler components, combustion chambers, furnace components, and high-temperature piping systems where welding involves dissimilar metals such as nickel alloys to carbon or stainless steels. The filler metal's ability to maintain strength and corrosion resistance from cryogenic to 980°C makes it suitable for thermal cycling environments in power generation equipment.
▪ Chemical Processing & Industrial: Joining INCONEL and INCOLOY series alloys to stainless steels, carbon steels, and MONEL alloys in chemical reactors, distillation columns, and processing equipment exposed to corrosive and high-temperature environments. The material's excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties ensure reliable performance in demanding chemical processing applications.
▪ Dissimilar Metal Welding: Specialized applications for welding MONEL alloys and Nickel 200 to stainless steels, welding stainless steels to carbon steels, and welding nickel steels. The filler metal's versatility in joining dissimilar metals makes it invaluable for equipment manufacturing and repair involving multiple material combinations.
▪ Nuclear & Aerospace: Critical components requiring high-temperature strength and corrosion resistance, including nuclear reactor equipment and aerospace structures where joining dissimilar materials is necessary. The filler metal's age-hardening capability and wide temperature range provide superior performance in these demanding applications.
