Product Description
ERNiCrFe-7 is a premium nickel-chromium-iron solid welding wire compliant with AWS A5.14/A5.14M standards, specifically designed for TIG welding of Inconel alloy 690. Featuring a high-nickel composition (≥60wt.% as balance) with high chromium content 28.0-31.5wt.%, iron 7.0-11.0wt.%, and strictly controlled low carbon (≤0.04wt.%), manganese (≤1.0wt.%), silicon (≤0.5wt.%), sulfur (≤0.015wt.%), and phosphorus (≤0.02wt.%) for superior performance in nuclear and high-temperature corrosive environments. Compatible with GTAW (TIG), GMAW (MIG), and SAW processes, it provides excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in nuclear and pure water environments, making it the preferred filler metal for nuclear reactor construction and critical high-temperature applications.
Features
▪ Superior Nuclear-Grade Performance: The high chromium content (28.0-31.5wt.%) provides exceptional resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in nuclear radiation and pure water environments, specifically designed to meet the evolving requirements of the nuclear industry. The weld metal exhibits excellent overall performance with outstanding resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in radiation-exposed and high-purity water environments, making it ideal for nuclear power plant applications.
▪ Excellent High-Temperature Strength and Corrosion Resistance: Maintains high strength and oxidation resistance at elevated temperatures (600-900°C), with tensile strength of 80,000 psi (552 MPa) and elongation of 30-35% in room temperature conditions. The density of 8.19-8.60 g/cm³ and melting point of 1310-1380°C ensure stable performance in high-temperature thermal cycling environments, particularly suitable for frequent thermal cycling conditions.
▪ Superior Dissimilar Metal and Cladding Capabilities: Designed for welding Inconel alloy 690 and steel cladding, particularly suitable for nuclear reactor construction. The consumable can also be used for cladding on most low-alloy steels and stainless steels to form anti-corrosion and anti-oxidizing acid corrosion surfacing layers, as well as for welding dissimilar metals including Inconel series alloys, Incoloy series alloys, carbon steels, low-alloy steels, and stainless steels.
▪ Excellent Weldability with Strict Process Controls: Provides smooth arc stability, minimal spatter, and uniform bead formation across various welding positions. The controlled chemical composition with low carbon, manganese, silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus minimizes hot cracking tendencies. The wire requires interpass temperature control of ≤150°C to avoid grain coarsening, with welding parameters including DCEN (TIG) with current range 120-180 A and voltage 22-28 V, using pure argon or argon-helium shielding gas at 10-15 L/min flow rate.
Applications
▪ Ideal for nuclear power and critical high-temperature applications, ERNiCrFe-7 is extensively used in:
▪ Nuclear Power Generation: Steam generator tube sheets, reactor pressure vessel interior surfacing, and nuclear reactor construction. The filler metal's ability to provide excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in nuclear radiation and pure water environments makes it the material of choice for critical nuclear power plant components and structures.
▪ Chemical Processing & High-Temperature Industrial: High-temperature cracking furnace tubes, reactors, and heat exchangers in petrochemical industry where resistance to oxidizing acid corrosion is required. The material's high chromium content and excellent high-temperature strength ensure reliable performance in demanding chemical processing applications.
▪ Marine Engineering & Desalination: Seawater desalination equipment and corrosion-resistant piping systems with excellent resistance to chloride ion corrosion. The filler metal's ability to form anti-corrosion surfacing layers on low-alloy steels and stainless steels provides superior protection in marine and desalination environments.
▪ Dissimilar Metal Welding: Specialized applications for welding dissimilar materials including Inconel series alloys, Incoloy series alloys, carbon steels, low-alloy steels, and stainless steels. The filler metal's versatility in joining dissimilar materials, combined with its excellent cladding capabilities, makes it invaluable for equipment manufacturing and repair involving multiple material combinations.

FAQS
What is the primary application of ERNiCrFe-7?
ERNiCrFe-7 is primarily used for TIG welding of Inconel alloy 690 and steel cladding, particularly suitable for nuclear reactor construction. It provides excellent resistance to stress-corrosion cracking in nuclear radiation and pure water environments, making it the preferred filler metal for nuclear power plant applications such as steam generator tube sheets and reactor pressure vessel interior surfacing.
What is the required interpass temperature for ERNiCrFe-7?
For multi-pass welding, the interpass temperature should be limited to ≤150°C to avoid grain coarsening and ensure optimal weld metal properties. This temperature control is critical for maintaining the mechanical properties and corrosion resistance of the weld metal, especially in nuclear and high-temperature applications.
What shielding gases are recommended for ERNiCrFe-7?
Pure argon (Ar) or argon-helium (Ar+He) mixture is recommended for GTAW and GMAW processes. The gas flow rate should be controlled at 10-15 L/min to ensure complete coverage of the weld area and protection against atmospheric contamination. Using high-purity gas (≥99.99%) is recommended to prevent porosity and ensure optimal weld quality.
