Product Description
ENiCu-7 (Alloy 190) is a premium nickel-copper covered arc welding electrode compliant with AWS A5.11/A5.11M standards, designed for Monel 400 (UNS N04400), Monel 404, and similar nickel-copper alloys. Its high-purity composition features 62.0-69.0% nickel, balance copper, and alloying elements including 4.0% maximum manganese and 1.0% maximum titanium. It excels in seawater, hydrofluoric acid, and reducing acid environments, with operating temperatures from cryogenic to 1000°F (538°C). Compatible with Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) process using DC+ polarity, it supports welding of homogeneous nickel-copper alloys, dissimilar metal joints (Monel alloys to carbon/low-alloy steels), and corrosion-resistant surfacing/cladding applications.
Features
▪ Superior Seawater Corrosion Resistance: Optimized nickel-copper balance provides outstanding resistance to seawater, brackish water, and marine environments. Excellent resistance to chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking makes it ideal for shipbuilding, desalination plants, and offshore platforms.
▪ Acid Resistance Excellence: Delivers exceptional corrosion resistance in hydrofluoric acid, sulfuric acid (concentration <85%), hydrochloric acid, and fluorine gas environments, particularly in deaerated conditions. The weld metal maintains integrity in reducing acid media typically encountered in chemical processing.
▪ Excellent Mechanical Properties: Deposited weld metal exhibits tensile strength of 70,000-78,000 psi (480-540 MPa) and impressive elongation of 30-45%, providing high ductility and toughness for both cryogenic and elevated temperature applications up to 538°C.
▪ Good Weldability: Stable arc characteristics, smooth weld formation, and good slag detachability ensure consistent welding performance. Suitable for all welding positions (flat, vertical, overhead, horizontal) with DC+ polarity, requiring no preheat for most applications.
Applications
▪ Ideal for marine, chemical, and petrochemical environments, ENiCu-7 is widely used in:
▪ Marine Engineering: Shipbuilding components, seawater desalination equipment, ship propeller shafts, pumps, valves, and offshore platform structures exposed to harsh marine conditions.
▪ Chemical & Petrochemical Industry: Hydrofluoric acid alkylation units, salt production equipment, chemical process vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems handling corrosive media.
▪ Oil & Gas: Oil well recovery pumps, downhole tools, wellhead components, and refining equipment requiring corrosion resistance.
▪ General Fabrication: Dissimilar metal welding between Monel alloys and carbon/low-alloy steels; overlay cladding for corrosion protection on steel structures; welding the clad side of joints in steel clad with nickel-copper alloy.
