Product Description
ENiCrMo-3 is a premium nickel-chromium-molybdenum coated electrode conforming to AWS A5.11/A5.11M standards, specifically formulated for welding Inconel 625 (UNS N06625), Incoloy 825, and similar nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys. Its all-position capability, combined with a high-performance composition featuring molybdenum (8.0-10.0wt.%), chromium (20.0-23.0wt.%), and niobium (3.15-4.15wt.%) with strict impurity control (C≤0.10%, Si≤0.75%), delivers exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and high-temperature oxidation. This electrode is ideal for joining nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys, dissimilar welding (nickel alloys to stainless steel or carbon steel), and for corrosion-resistant overlays and cladding applications using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
Features
▪ Superior Corrosion Resistance: Provides outstanding resistance to chloride-induced pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in seawater and aggressive acidic environments. The optimized molybdenum and chromium content ensures robust performance against both oxidizing and reducing media, including organic and inorganic acids, making it suitable for chemical processing and marine applications.
▪ Stable and Reliable Performance: The niobium-stabilized composition effectively prevents carbide precipitation during welding, maintaining corrosion resistance and mechanical properties in the as-welded condition without the need for post-weld heat treatment. The all-weld metal delivers high tensile strength (approximately 760-820 MPa), excellent ductility (elongation ≥30-35%), and maintains superior toughness across a wide temperature range from cryogenic (-196°C) to elevated service temperatures (up to 980°C), closely matching the base metal.
▪ Excellent Weldability and Handling: Features a stable arc with a smooth, finely rippled bead profile and easy slag detachment. Designed for use with DC (+) polarity, it offers excellent operability in all positions (except vertical down). The low-hydrogen basic coating provides resistance to hot cracking and micro-fissuring. Preheat is generally not required, but interpass temperature should be maintained below 150°C to optimize mechanical properties and prevent excessive heat buildup, especially for thick sections or restrained joints.
Applications
▪ Specifically developed for demanding corrosive environments and extreme temperature service, ENiCrMo-3 is essential in:
▪ Chemical & Petrochemical Industry: Construction and repair of reactors, heat exchangers, piping systems, and process equipment handling aggressive media including acids, chlorides, and high-temperature corrosive environments requiring reliable corrosion resistance.
▪ Marine & Offshore Engineering: Welding of seawater handling systems, desalination plants, offshore platform components, and piping requiring exceptional resistance to chloride-induced corrosion and pitting attack.
▪ Nuclear & Power Generation: Fabrication of reactor components, steam generator systems, and high-temperature piping requiring oxidation resistance and long-term reliability under demanding service conditions.
▪ Cryogenic Applications: Ideal for 5% and 9% nickel steel welding in LNG storage tanks and cryogenic equipment, maintaining excellent toughness and ductility at -196°C for reliable low-temperature service.
▪ General Fabrication and Cladding: Widely used for dissimilar metal joining between nickel alloys (Inconel 625), super duplex stainless steels, and stainless/carbon steels; also for overlay welding to provide corrosion and heat-resistant surfaces on less noble base materials in general fabrication where high performance is paramount.

FAQS
What is the difference between ENiCrMo-3 (electrode) and ERNiCrMo-3 (wire)?
ENiCrMo-3 is a flux-coated electrode for SMAW (stick welding) following AWS A5.11, while ERNiCrMo-3 is a solid wire for GTAW/TIG, GMAW/MIG, SAW, and PAW processes following AWS A5.14—both have identical nominal chemistry for Inconel 625 applications.
Can ENiCrMo-3 be used for dissimilar metal welding?
Yes, ENiCrMo-3 is extensively used for welding dissimilar combinations including nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloys (Inconel 625/825) to stainless steels, carbon steels, low-alloy steels, and 9% nickel steels in various industrial applications.
What are the key advantages of ENiCrMo-3 over standard stainless steel electrodes?
ENiCrMo-3 provides superior corrosion resistance (especially to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments), higher strength at elevated temperatures, excellent cryogenic toughness, and better performance in severe chemical environments compared to conventional stainless steel welding electrodes.
