Product Description
ENiCrFe-2 is a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron coated electrode conforming to AWS A5.11/A5.11M standards, specifically formulated for welding Inconel 718 (UNS N07718), Alloy 706, X-750, and similar precipitation-hardening nickel-based alloys. Its all-position capability, combined with a precision-balanced composition featuring niobium (1.0-3.0wt.% Cb/Ta), molybdenum (1.0-3.0wt.%), chromium (13.0-17.0wt.%), and high nickel (62.0% minimum), delivers exceptional strength in both high-temperature and cryogenic service conditions. This electrode is ideal for joining precipitation-hardening nickel alloys, dissimilar welding (nickel alloys to stainless or carbon steels), and for repair and fabrication of aerospace and power generation components using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
Features
▪ Superior High-Temperature Strength: The optimized niobium and molybdenum content provides effective precipitation-hardening response and excellent creep rupture resistance at elevated temperatures up to 700°C. The all-weld metal delivers tensile strength of 620-760MPa (as-welded) with the ▪ capability for age-hardening to achieve enhanced mechanical properties for demanding high-temperature applications.
▪ Excellent Cryogenic Toughness: Maintains outstanding impact resistance and ductility at cryogenic temperatures down to -196°C, ensuring reliable performance in liquid gas storage and rocket propulsion systems where thermal shock and extreme temperature cycling are critical concerns.
▪ Excellent Weldability and Handling: Features a stable arc with smooth bead appearance and easy slag removal. The controlled chemistry with low impurities (C≤0.10%, S≤0.020%, P≤0.020%) effectively minimizes micro-fissuring and hot cracking tendencies. Designed for use with DC (+) polarity, it offers excellent operability in all positions (except vertical down). Preheat is generally not required, but interpass temperature should be maintained below 150°C to optimize mechanical properties and prevent excessive heat buildup
Applications
▪ Specifically developed for extreme temperature environments and high-strength requirements, ENiCrFe-2 is essential in:
▪ Aerospace Industry: Fabrication and repair of high-strength aircraft components, turbine engine casings, jet exhaust assemblies, and structural elements requiring age-hardenable weld properties and sustained creep resistance at operating temperatures.
▪ Rocket & Space Technology: Construction of liquid rocket motor components, cryogenic fuel tanks for hydrogen/oxygen service, thruster chambers, and spacecraft structures subjected to severe thermal cycling from cryogenic to extreme high temperatures.
▪ Power Generation: Welding of gas turbine hot section components, high-temperature piping systems, and pressure vessel repairs requiring oxidation resistance and long-term creep strength at elevated service temperatures.
▪ General Fabrication and Repair: Ideal for dissimilar metal joining between precipitation-hardening nickel alloys (718, 706, X-750) and stainless steels or carbon steels; also widely used for overlay welding and repair of high-temperature alloy components in industrial processing equipment.

FAQS
What are the main differences between ENiCrFe-2 and ENiCrFe-3 electrodes?
ENiCrFe-2 contains molybdenum (1.0-3.0%) and higher niobium for enhanced creep resistance and age-hardenability in high-temperature applications up to 700°C, while ENiCrFe-3 has higher manganese (5.0-9.5%) for improved hot cracking resistance in dissimilar metal joints.
Can ENiCrFe-2 be used for welding Inconel 718 in the aged condition?
Yes, ENiCrFe-2 is specifically designed for precipitation-hardening alloys like Inconel 718. It can be welded in solution-annealed condition and subsequently age-hardened to achieve matching base metal strength after post-weld heat treatment.
Is post-weld heat treatment required after welding with ENiCrFe-2?
Not mandatory, but recommended for age-hardenable alloys. For maximum mechanical properties, a two-step aging treatment (720°C/8hr + 620°C/8hr) is typically applied. The as-welded structure offers tensile strength of 620-760MPa with good ductility.
