Product Description
AWS E11018-M is a high-strength low-hydrogen iron powder coated electrode compliant with AWS A5.5 standards, designed for welding ultra-high-strength low-alloy steels with minimum tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi). Featuring a basic flux coating with low diffusible hydrogen content and sophisticated alloy additions (including Ni, Cr, Mo, and other elements), it produces weld metal with exceptional strength and toughness. Compatible with AC and DC+ polarities, it supports all-position welding for critical applications requiring weld metal to match the highest strength structural steels.
Features
▪ Ultra-High Strength Performance: Delivers weld metal with minimum tensile strength of 760 MPa (110 ksi), yield strength ≥680 MPa, and elongation ≥15%. The carefully balanced alloy composition provides strength matching ultra-high-strength low-alloy base materials including T-1, HY-130, and similar steels.
▪ Superior Toughness: The alloyed formulation with controlled nickel, chromium, and molybdenum content ensures excellent impact toughness at low temperatures, typically meeting requirements down to -40°C or lower depending on specific manufacturer specifications. Critical for applications requiring both high strength and ductility.
▪ Low-Hydrogen Formulation: Basic coating with diffusible hydrogen content typically ≤4ml/100g or H4 classification, essential for preventing hydrogen-induced cracking in ultra-high-strength steels which are highly susceptible to delayed cracking. Mandatory for welding thick sections and highly restrained joints.
▪ Advanced Alloy Design: The weld deposit contains precise combinations of alloying elements that provide balanced mechanical properties with minimal loss of toughness at high strength levels. The iron powder coating maintains good deposition efficiency while preserving all-position welding capability.
Applications
▪ Ideal for the most demanding high-strength applications requiring weld metal with exceptional mechanical properties, E11018-M is widely used in:
▪ Military & Defense: Armor plating, military vehicles, submarines, and defense applications using ultra-high-strength steels requiring maximum strength and ballistic or structural performance.
▪ Aerospace & Aviation: Aircraft landing gear components, high-strength structural elements, and critical aerospace applications where weight reduction demands ultra-high-strength materials.
▪ Heavy Construction & Mining: Excavating equipment, mining machinery, and heavy-duty construction equipment requiring welds on ultra-high-strength steels for maximum durability and load capacity.
▪ Specialized Industrial: High-pressure vessels, cranes, lifting equipment, and specialized industrial applications where weld metal must withstand extreme loads and harsh service conditions.
