Product Description
ENiCrFe-3 is a high-performance nickel-chromium-iron coated electrode conforming to AWS A5.11/A5.11M standards, specifically formulated for welding Inconel 600 (UNS N06600), Incoloy 800/800H/800HT, and similar nickel-chromium-iron alloys. Its all-position capability, combined with a nominal composition featuring high nickel (67.0% minimum), chromium (13.0-17.0wt.%), and niobium stabilization (1.0-2.5wt.% Cb/Ta), delivers exceptional performance in both high-temperature and cryogenic service conditions. This electrode is ideal for joining homogeneous nickel-chromium-iron alloys, dissimilar welding (nickel alloys to carbon steel or stainless steel), and for corrosion-resistant overlays and cladding applications using Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW).
Features
▪ Superior Corrosion Resistance: Provides excellent resistance to oxidation, chloride-ion stress corrosion cracking, and caustic alkaline environments. The high nickel content offers protection against reducing media, while chromium ensures resistance to oxidizing conditions, making it suitable for chemical processing, nuclear, and high-purity water applications.
▪ Stable and Reliable Performance: The niobium-stabilized formulation effectively prevents intergranular carbide precipitation, maintaining corrosion resistance and ductility during elevated temperature service. The all-weld metal delivers tensile strength of 550-660MPa, excellent elongation (≥30-40%), and maintains outstanding toughness from cryogenic temperatures (-196°C) down to elevated operating conditions. Good creep rupture properties ensure reliable long-term performance at service temperatures up to 815°C.
▪ Excellent Weldability and Handling: Features a stable arc with smooth, finely rippled bead appearance and easy slag removal. The manganese content (5.0-9.5wt.%) provides inherent resistance to hot cracking. Designed for use with DC (+) polarity, it offers excellent operability in all positions (except vertical down). Generally, no preheat is required under normal conditions, though interpass temperature control (typically below 150°C) is recommended for thick sections or restrained joints.
Applications
▪ Specifically developed for demanding high-temperature and corrosive environments, ENiCrFe-3 is essential in:
▪ Chemical & Petrochemical Processing: Construction and repair of heat exchangers, reactor vessels, piping systems, and equipment handling caustic alkalis, organic acids, and aggressive chemical media requiring reliable corrosion resistance.
▪ Nuclear Power Generation: Welding of steam generator tubing, reactor core components, and fuel reprocessing equipment where resistance to high-purity water corrosion and consistent performance under radiation exposure are critical.
▪ Aerospace & Industrial Heat Treating: Fabrication of aircraft engine components, exhaust systems, furnace muffles, radiant heating tubes, and retorts exposed to high temperatures, thermal cycling, and carburizing atmospheres.
▪ General Fabrication and Cladding: Ideal for dissimilar metal joining between nickel alloys (Inconel/Incoloy), stainless steels, and carbon steels; also widely used for overlay welding to provide corrosion and heat-resistant surfaces on less noble base materials.

FAQS
What are the main differences between ERNiCrFe-3 and ERNiCrMo-3?
ERNiCrFe-3 contains higher chromium (18-22%) and niobium for high-temperature oxidation resistance and creep strength, while ERNiCrMo-3 has molybdenum (8-10%) for superior chloride pitting and crevice corrosion resistance.
Can ERNiCrFe-3 be used for cryogenic applications?
Yes, ERNiCrFe-3 maintains excellent toughness and ductility at cryogenic temperatures down to -196°C, making it suitable for LNG storage tanks and cryogenic equipment.
Is preheat required when welding with ERNiCrFe-3?
No, preheat is generally not required under normal conditions, but interpass temperature should be controlled below 150°C to prevent excessive heat input and ensure optimal weld properties.
