Product Description

RBCuZn-D (Nickel Silver) is a high-strength copper-zinc-nickel brazing filler metal complying with AWS A5.8 standard (equivalent to ISO24373 Cu7730, GB/T9460 SCu7730, UNS C77300). Typical composition: 46.0-50.0% Cu, 9.0-11.0% Ni, 0.04-0.25% Si, with balance Zn. Features excellent corrosion resistance, high strength, and good machinability. Used as a cost-effective alternative to silver brazing alloys where higher brazing temperatures are acceptable. Suitable for torch brazing, oxy-fuel welding, and brazing of tungsten carbide, steel, nickel alloys, and cast iron. A neutral or slightly oxidizing flame is recommended. Requires borax-based flux.

Features

▪ High Strength: Tensile strength 385-415 MPa (56-60 ksi) with good ductility (25% elongation).
▪ Nickel Enhanced: 10% nickel addition provides excellent corrosion resistance, particularly in marine environments.
▪ Good Machinability: Readily machinable without work hardening, suitable for post-braze finishing.
▪ High Temperature: Melting range 890-935°C (1634-1715°F), higher than RBCuZn-C.
▪ Tungsten Carbide Specialist: Designed for brazing tungsten carbide tools and components.
▪ Excellent Color Match: Silver-white appearance provides good color match with steel and nickel alloys.

Applications

▪ Carbide Tooling: Tungsten carbide cutting tools, drill bits, mining tools, and wear-resistant parts.
▪ Cast Iron: Cast iron repairs, gray cast iron brazing, and ductile iron components.
▪ Steel Components: Gear teeth, bearing bushings, valve seats, and steel-to-steel brazing.
▪ Nickel Alloys: Nickel-based alloy brazing and stainless steel components.
▪ Surface Overlay: Hard facing and wear-resistant overlay on cast steel and cast iron.
▪ Dissimilar Metal Joining: Steel-to-nickel alloy, steel-to-cast iron, and copper-to-steel joints.

FAQS

图片名称

What is the difference between RBCuZn-D and RBCuZn-C?

图片名称

RBCuZn-D contains 10% nickel and has higher strength (385-415 MPa) and better corrosion resistance, with melting point 890-935°C. RBCuZn-C is nickel-free with lower strength (385 MPa) and lower melting point (866-888°C). RBCuZn-D is preferred for tungsten carbide brazing and marine applications, while RBCuZn-C is for general-purpose brazing.

图片名称

What flux is required for RBCuZn-D brazing?

图片名称

Borax-based flux or bronze brazing flux is required for bare rods to remove oxides. Flux-coated rods are available for convenience.

图片名称

What brazing temperature range is recommended?

图片名称

921-955°C (1690-1750°F) for torch brazing. Use a neutral or slightly oxidizing flame to minimize zinc evaporation and ensure proper wetting.
