Product Description
ER307Si is a premium high-silicon high-manganese austenitic stainless steel solid welding wire compliant with AWS A5.9 and EN ISO 14343-A G 18 8 Mn standards, designed specifically for dissimilar steel welding and joining difficult-to-weld materials. Featuring a nominal composition of 17.0-20.0% chromium, 7.0-10.0% nickel, 5.0-8.0% manganese and 0.70-1.20% silicon (carbon content ≤0.08%), it delivers excellent crack resistance and mechanical properties, with a full austenitic, non-magnetic deposited metal structure. Common diameters range from 0.8-3.2 mm, packaged in coils (15 kg) or straight sticks (5 kg), operating with DC reverse connection (DCEP) for versatile application across various welding environments.
Features
· ER307Si offers excellent weldability and all-position performance, with its high-silicon formula ensuring stable arc transfer, minimal spatter, smooth weld bead and easy slag removal, suitable for all welding positions (PA/PE). Its smooth surface enables consistent wire feeding, ideal for automatic and robot welding, reducing wire jamming and improving efficiency even in variable fit-up conditions.
· It delivers exceptional tensile strength (≥600 MPa), yield strength (≥450 MPa) and elongation (≥35%), with typical room-temperature impact energy ≥120 J for optimal crack resistance.
· The Cr-Ni base composition provides good corrosion resistance comparable to Type 304 stainless steel, suitable for atmospheric, weak acid-alkali and flue gas environments.
· Compatible with GMAW (Ar+(0.5-5%)CO₂ or Ar+(0.5-3%)O₂) and GTAW (pure Ar) processes, with DC reverse connection (DCEP preferred), it requires no pre-drying, reducing maintenance requirements and enhancing construction efficiency.
Applications
Widely used across diverse industries, ER307Si is primarily applied for dissimilar steel welding, including carbon steel/low alloy steel with stainless steel (304/316/409) and high-manganese/high-chromium steel. It serves as a buffer layer for wear-resistant surfacing of high-wear components such as crushers and excavator buckets. Extensively used in automotive exhaust systems (409/304 stainless steel), shipbuilding, marine engineering, pressure vessels and boilers, it is suitable for both fabrication and maintenance repair in harsh industrial environments where strength, toughness and corrosion resistance are required.

FAQS
What is the primary use of ER307Si welding wire?
ER307Si is primarily used for dissimilar steel welding and joining difficult-to-weld materials, such as carbon steel/low alloy steel with stainless steel (304/316/409) and high-manganese/high-chromium steel. It also serves as a buffer layer for wear-resistant surfacing of high-wear components in harsh industrial environments.
How does ER307Si achieve excellent crack resistance?
Its high manganese content (5.00-8.00%) stabilizes the austenitic structure, effectively inhibiting hot cracks. With a room-temperature impact energy of ≥120 J and excellent toughness, it also resists cold cracking, making it reliable for critical welding applications.
What are the recommended welding parameters for ER307Si?
It is compatible with GMAW and GTAW processes, using Ar+(0.5-5%)CO₂ or Ar+(0.5-3%)O₂ for GMAW and pure argon for GTAW. DC reverse connection (DCEP) is preferred, and it requires no pre-drying for general applications, ensuring convenient operation.
