Product Description
ER312 is a premium austenitic stainless steel solid welding wire compliant with AWS A5.9 and EN ISO 14343-A G 29 9 Mn standards, specifically designed for dissimilar steel welding and joining difficult-to-weld materials. Featuring a nominal composition of 28.0-30.0% chromium, 8.0-10.0% nickel, 1.5-2.5% manganese and carbon content ≤0.15%, it delivers exceptional crack resistance and wear resistance, with a duplex (austenitic-ferritic) deposited metal structure. Common diameters range from 0.8-3.2 mm, packaged in coils (15 kg) or straight sticks (5 kg), operating with DC reverse connection (DCEP) for versatile application across various industrial welding scenarios.
Features
· ER312 offers excellent weldability and all-position performance, with its high-chromium formula ensuring stable arc transfer, minimal spatter, smooth weld bead and easy slag removal, suitable for all welding positions (flat, horizontal, vertical-up, overhead).
· Its smooth surface enables consistent wire feeding, ideal for automatic, semi-automatic and robot welding, reducing wire jamming and improving welding efficiency even in variable fit-up conditions.
· It delivers exceptional tensile strength (≥620 MPa), yield strength (≥480 MPa) and elongation (≥30%), with excellent toughness and resistance to hot cracking and cold cracking.
· The high Cr content provides superior corrosion resistance to oxidation, sulfidation and mild to moderate corrosive media, while its duplex structure enhances wear resistance.
· Compatible with GMAW (Ar+(2-5%)CO₂) and GTAW (pure Ar) processes, with DC reverse connection (DCEP preferred), it requires no pre-drying for general applications, ensuring low maintenance and operational flexibility.
Applications
Widely used across diverse industries, ER312 is primarily applied for dissimilar steel welding, including carbon steel/low alloy steel with stainless steel (304/316/310), high-chromium steel and heat-resistant steel. It is extensively used in heavy industry, petrochemical refineries, and power plants for fabricating and repairing components exposed to high temperature, corrosion and wear, such as furnace parts, pressure vessels, piping systems and valves. Suitable for wear-resistant surfacing and repair work of high-wear components (e.g., crushers, conveyor parts), it is also applied in marine engineering, chemical processing equipment and industrial furnaces, delivering reliable performance in harsh operating conditions.

FAQS
What is the primary use of ER312 welding wire?
ER312 is primarily used for dissimilar steel welding, including carbon steel/low alloy steel with stainless steel (304/316/310), high-chromium steel and heat-resistant steel. It is extensively applied in heavy industry, petrochemical refineries and power plants, such as fabricating and repairing furnace parts, pressure vessels, piping systems and valves exposed to high temperature, corrosion and wear.
How does ER312 achieve excellent crack resistance and wear resistance?
Its high chromium content (28.0-30.0%) and duplex (austenitic-ferritic) deposited metal structure enhance excellent resistance to hot cracking and cold cracking. The high chromium content also forms a wear-resistant surface layer, while the duplex structure further improves its wear resistance, making it suitable for high-wear and harsh industrial environments.
What are the recommended welding parameters for ER312?
It is compatible with GMAW and GTAW processes, using Ar+(2-5%)CO₂ for GMAW and pure argon for GTAW. DC reverse connection (DCEP) is preferred, and pre-drying is not required for general applications, ensuring convenient operation and stable weld quality.
