Product Description

ER347 is a premium niobium (columbium)-stabilized austenitic stainless steel solid welding wire compliant with AWS A5.9 and EN ISO 14343-A G 18 10 Nb standards, specifically designed for welding niobium-stabilized austenitic stainless steels requiring superior resistance to intergranular corrosion. Featuring a nominal composition of 17.0-19.0% chromium, 9.0-12.0% nickel, 0.70-1.00% niobium (columbium) and carbon content ≤0.08%, it delivers excellent high-temperature stability and intergranular corrosion resistance, with a full austenitic deposited metal structure. Common diameters range from 0.8-3.2 mm, packaged in coils (15 kg) or straight sticks (5 kg), operating with DC reverse connection (DCEP) for versatile application in high-temperature and corrosive industrial environments.

Features

· ER347 offers excellent weldability and all-position performance, with its niobium-stabilized formula ensuring stable arc transfer, minimal spatter, smooth weld bead and easy slag removal, suitable for all welding positions (flat, horizontal, vertical-up, overhead).

· Its smooth surface enables consistent wire feeding, ideal for automatic, semi-automatic and robot welding, reducing wire jamming and improving welding efficiency even in variable fit-up conditions.

· It delivers exceptional tensile strength (≥550 MPa), yield strength (≥240 MPa) and elongation (≥35%), with excellent toughness at both room and elevated temperatures.

· The addition of niobium (columbium) stabilizes carbon, effectively preventing intergranular corrosion during welding and high-temperature service (up to 870°C), while its Cr-Ni base provides good general corrosion resistance.

· Compatible with GMAW (Ar+(2-5%)CO₂ or Ar+(0.5-3%)O₂) and GTAW (pure Ar) processes, with DC reverse connection (DCEP preferred), it requires pre-drying at 250-350°C for 1 hour for critical applications, ensuring low maintenance and operational flexibility.

Applications

Widely used across diverse industries requiring high-temperature stability and intergranular corrosion resistance, ER347 is primarily applied for welding Type 347, 347H stainless steels and other niobium-stabilized austenitic alloys. It is extensively used in thermal power plants, petrochemical refineries, and industrial furnaces for fabricating and repairing high-temperature components such as boiler tubes, furnace liners, heat exchangers and exhaust manifolds. Suitable for welding dissimilar steels involving high-temperature service, it is also applied in chemical processing equipment, aerospace components, nuclear power auxiliary equipment and marine structures exposed to elevated temperatures and mild corrosive media, delivering reliable performance in harsh operating conditions.

FAQS

图片名称

What is the primary use of ER347 welding wire?

图片名称

ER347 is primarily used for welding Type 347 and 347H niobium-stabilized austenitic stainless steels. It is widely applied in thermal power, petrochemical and high-temperature industrial fields to manufacture and repair furnace tubes, exhaust manifolds, heat exchangers and pressure vessels working under continuous high temperature.

图片名称

How does ER347 resist intergranular corrosion?

图片名称

It contains stable niobium element which can fully combine with carbon elements inside weld metal, effectively restrain the precipitation of chromium carbide. This feature greatly prevents intergranular corrosion and keeps stable mechanical performance during long-term high temperature service.

图片名称

What are the recommended welding parameters for ER347?

图片名称

It matches well with GMAW and GTAW welding methods. Ar mixed with 2-5% CO₂ is suitable for MIG welding, and pure argon is adopted for TIG welding. DCEP current is preferred. Pre-drying treatment at 200-300℃ for one hour is suggested for key welding projects to guarantee reliable welding performance.
