Product Description
ENIFE-CI (Z408, equivalent to ENIFE-CI) is a premium nickel-iron alloy cast iron welding electrode compliant with GB/T 10044 and AWS A5.15 standards. Featuring a nickel-iron alloy core (Ni 45-60%, Fe balance) with strong reducing graphite coating, it delivers high strength, excellent ductility, and low linear expansion coefficient. Designed for welding gray cast iron and ductile iron (nodular graphite cast iron), it provides superior crack resistance and can be used at room temperature or with slight preheating (up to 200°C). Compatible with both AC and DC power sources, it supports repair welding of high-strength cast iron components.
Features
▪ High Strength & Toughness: Nickel-iron alloy composition provides tensile strength of ≥520 MPa (approx. 75,000 psi) with excellent ductility and plasticity, making it stronger than pure nickel electrodes (Z308) for ductile iron applications while maintaining good machinability.
▪ Excellent Crack Resistance: Low linear expansion coefficient reduces thermal stress during welding, minimizing crack formation. Delivers superior crack resistance for gray cast iron compared to Z308, and particularly effective for nodular cast iron and high-phosphorus (up to 0.2% P) cast iron.
▪ Versatile Weldability: Strong reducing graphite coating ensures stable arc, minimal spatter, and smooth weld formation. Suitable for both AC and DC power sources, allowing flexibility in various welding environments. Can be used at room temperature or with slight preheating to approximately 200°C.
▪ Cost-Effective Solution: Offers balanced performance with lower cost compared to pure nickel electrodes while providing higher strength than nickel-copper alternatives. Good machinability for post-weld processing requirements.
Applications
▪ Ideal for repair and maintenance of critical cast iron components, EZNiFe-1 is widely used in:
▪ Automotive Industry: Engine cylinders, cylinder heads, engine blocks, motor stands, and gear boxes requiring high-strength cast iron repair and machining capability.
▪ Heavy Machinery & Equipment: High-strength gray cast iron parts, rollers, machine tools, guideways, and industrial casting components subjected to mechanical stress and thermal cycling.
▪ General Casting Repair: Important high-strength gray cast iron and ductile iron components, including transmission gears, pump housings, bearing seats, and structural cast iron parts requiring reliable repair welding.

FAQS
What standards does EZNiFe-1 comply with?
EZNiFe-1 complies with GB/T 10044 (Chinese national standard) and is equivalent to AWS A5.15 ENiFe-CI and ISO 1071-E CNiFe-CI-A standards for cast iron welding electrodes.
What is the recommended welding current for EZNiFe-1 with 3.2mm diameter?
For 3.2mm diameter, recommended current is 80-110A (some sources specify 90-120A) for flat position welding, suitable for both AC and DC+ polarity.
How does EZNiFe-1 compare to Z308 (EZNi-1) cast iron electrode?
EZNiFe-1 has higher strength than Z308 (pure nickel) and provides better crack resistance for ductile iron and high-phosphorus cast iron. However, machinability is slightly lower than Z308, and preheating to around 200°C is recommended for better results.
